A note from the Domestic (now Domesticated) Dilettante.
Hi, and welcome to my new blog home! If we haven’t met, here’s a little about me.
I’m a wife of 30 years (and counting) and mom to three great (and grown) kids. After leaving the corporate world in 2000, I began working from our Tennessee home while our children were all-too-quickly growing up. In the process, I’ve grown to love all things domestic – from cleaning (yes!) and organizing, remodeling, gardening, cooking, and occasional crafting. (See why I call myself a dilettante?)
I’m also an avid reader, an orange-blooded fan of UT football, and most of all a devoted follower of Jesus. Faith, family and friends are what make my world go ’round. I hope to see you around – I generally post on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. And please (pretty please!) leave a comment and/or a link back to your blog – the conversation is at least half the fun, right?

Thank you Terry for the like on my blog post about “Weeds or Flowers.” Come back soon!
Hi Terry, thanks for stopping by my blog. Like your blog, too! You must have married very young if that was 29 years ago from when the above picture was taken!
You’re too kind! I could make a wise crack about how we marry young here in the south, but I promise I was of legal age (although we were both in college.) You’ve got me hooked on the idea of making my own spinach dough. I love making homemade raviolis, and I’m thinking it would be a good dough to complement my meat filling.
Great to hear you love making home-made ravioli! Making them with spinach dough will certainly work.
Thanks for following my blog! I shall check out your cooking & baking pages as they are two of my passions!
Oh, you’ve got so much to share: Wisdom in your relationship with Christ; wisdom in marriage and raising a family; and wisdom in gardening (among others)! Beautiful blog and thank you for the encouragement!
Love it! Do we wish we could go back to the corporate world? Heck no! Thanks for stopping by, hapoy to have found you!
Thanks – and back at ya. Come on over and I’ll pour us both a glass of iced tea or something
Corporate retirees unite! Will keep up with your treks.

Thanks Carol! I didn’t technically “retire” (I wasn’t yet 40) but I did take my leave and it was perfect timing. I have fondness for the people I worked with and I’m proud of the projects we accomplished. And I have thoroughly enjoyed spending the last twelve years with my too-soon-grown kids.
I arrived at your blog from your comment on the OTP post about wedding advice. Thank you…. SO MUCH…. for bringing me back to the real world. You definitely offered the best advice out of all comments posted. Modern society blinds us young women and has us chasing weddings instead of a marriage. You seem to be a brilliant woman from your comment and the little bit of your blog that I was able to scan through. I bookmarked your blog so that I can return and find more inspiration from the kind of woman I want to be.
Stacy, I send you good thoughts and wishes for blessings and happiness on your big day, and in your life’s journey of becoming YOU. (Don’t ever sell yourself short or worry about comparisons to anyone else.) Me, brilliant? Hmmmm. It might be safe to say I’m occasionally clever, and I do laugh at my own jokes (and my own mistakes.) But thank you very much for the extremely kind words.
Lovely Blog and its so nice to read from a like minded woman we have
many of the same interests so I will follow you with interest

Thanks! I’ll take a peek at your blog as well! Happy blogging!
Terry
Very nice blog. I’m a follower now!
Thanks!!!! Hope you have a great weekend!
Funny thing – I grew up outside of Memphis in Collierville, TN. Transplanted to north of Atlanta, GA 30 plus years ago.
Nice to meet you! Congrats on starting your blog and best wishes for many happy posts!

It’s a small world! Swimmer girl and I are headed to ATL on Friday for a girls weekend. (Next-to-last spring break before college.)
Thanks for the kind words. I am a recent transplant from Blogger, and still wrapping my head around all the html goodness of WP

Hello Terry and fellow Tennessean,
I just saw your post on Growing The Home Garden and decided to check out your blog. I like it, I found your dinner menu for the week inspiring. I need to get back to better planning like that myself. I also saw your recipe for Spinach and Artichoke Dip. They used to cook that at my work in the cafeteria years ago, that was the first time I tried it. When I asked about the ingredients they told me they used a white sauce and then added the cheeses. It was delicious. Have you ever made it that way?
I’ve been married for 33 years and very happy. It’s great to hear about others who are still together. My favorite part about your story is Who you follow, I’m a Christian too. I can’t image my life without Him and He makes all the rest go ’round just right. Glad I found your blog, I’m going to subscribe to your posts so I can learn from you. I have a blog also but sad to say since I started a Facebook page I’ve neglected it. I’ve found it’s much easier to post pictures there than on Blogger. Keep sharing.
Thanks for th ekind words and welcome! I’ve never made the spinach/artichoke dip with a Bechamel – always just used the (artery-clogging) combo of mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese. I hope you’ll feel free to comment on future blog posts – I think my gardening “itch” is about to kick into high gear, although it’ll have to compete hard for the time and space I give to cooking
Best,
Terry
